Thanksgiving Travels

As mentioned in my previous post, we started off our Thanksgiving travels by making a whirlwind trip to Utah. We were only there from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday morning before we took off with my family to make our way to my grandparents' in Arizona.

Growing up, I never saw as much of my mom's parents as I did my dad's because they lived in South Texas. Several years ago, after my grandpa "retired," they moved to Arizona. While it is still a long drive, it is nowhere near as brutal as the drive to Brownsville, so we make the effort a lot more and I'm glad! They live on 40 acres out in the middle of nowhere, so it is usually a pretty relaxing trip once we're there.

This year we took advantage of some shooting practice, 4 wheelers, their golf cart, catch, a tractor, and horses. Not to mention, card games, old-school Mac games and trips into town to see the new Harry Potter movie, a visit to the new temple grounds, our traditional meal at El Charro, and even some Black Friday shopping.

They drove all the way into town (on Thanksgiving) just to buy that football.  Dedication.

Go Grandma Go!

Since Jason and I didn't have as long of a drive as everyone else, we opted to take an extra day and go visit the Perkins and I'm so glad we did!  They got their Christmas tree out while we were there and their two girls were completely fascinated by it.  So cute!

Even though we put almost 2,000 miles on our car, it was definitely worth it and just what I needed to give me the oompf to get through the next month or so.
