My Pregnancy: Week 16

Baby's now the size of an avocado!
Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

This was another pretty good week. Not much to update on though. My energy levels are much higher, but I still have days that completely wipe me out. I've also finally started gaining some weight and think I am finally starting to look more pregnant.

My Pregnancy: Week 15

Baby's now the size of a naval orange!
Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Another week down! My energy levels have slowly increased, but so have the number of mood swings. Your poor father has put up with his fair share of tears this week, most of the time for no reason at all. But he holds me, comforts me, and reminds me that it is all for a good cause. And he's right, I can think of no better cause than getting to have you in our lives.

My Pregnancy: Week 14

Baby's now the size of a lemon!

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

We had another doctor's appointment this week. Hearing your heartbeat is still the best part of my month! It was just a quick check up and everything went well. The doctor was a little concerned about my having only gained 1/2 a pound since my last visit, but told me not to worry about it just yet.

My Pregnancy: Week 13

Baby's now the size of a peach!
Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

I'm officially in my second trimester now! Only two more to go...

I can't say as though I've noticed as huge change on overall wellness. If anything, it just seems to be more varied. I've had a couple days with much more energy than I've had in a quite a while, but I've also had days where I want to do nothing but sit on the couch all day long.  Unfortunately, headaches (both large and small) also seem to be becoming more frequent.
