All month long in preschool, Leila has been studying dinosaurs and anxiously anticipating the field trip they were taking to the dinosaur museum at the end of the month. Unfortunately, she woke up with a fever, congestion, sore throat, etc. and I had to keep her home. I felt so bad for her, especially when she kept asking me if she got to go to the dinosaur museum. So, I started pulling together some special dinosaur activities for us to enjoy later in the day. I made her some dinosaur bones out of salt dough and some dinosaur shoes so that she could walk like a dinosaur.
She enjoyed the activities but as she started feeling sicker and sicker, she eventually just wanted to be spoiled and snuggled. So Jason brought her home a smoothie and Mom snuggled with her on the couch the rest of the night.

Say Yes to the Dress
I went wedding dress shopping with Jori and some of her bridesmaids today. She had an appointment at one shop so we went there and she tried on a total of three dresses and picked the third. It suits her perfectly and I can hardly wait to see how it looks once all of the alterations are done!

A Glimpse of the Future
I was really bored yesterday (happens a lot since I can't really take Ellie anywhere easily) so I had Leila dress up in my wedding dress and I took a few pictures. Since the dress is (of course) absolutely huge on her, I laid the dress on the couch and then slid her in and she just had to lay there while I took pictures. I've never had her sit so still for pictures before!
I'm sure her own wedding day will be upon me far sooner than I want!

Stats Update for Leila and Ellie
I took both girls to the pediatrician for check-ups today. Here are their stats as well as a little bit about what they are up to these days.
Ellie
Height: 20.5" (.09 percentile)
Weight: 7 lbs 11.5 oz (.02 percentile)
Head circumference: 14" (.3 percentile)
It's important to note that the percentiles do not reflect on her adjusted age, which is why they are all so small. But she is actually on the charts this time, if only just. That's something!
*Ellie is super smiley and I love it!
*She is currently eating 4-5 oz. every 4 hours, including at night.
*She is still on oxygen but the doctor said her lungs sound alright so we aren't sure why she keeps failing her sat tests.
*She breastfeeds well but still prefers using the nipple shield to help control flow.
*Lately she hasn't been sleeping as soundly in her bassinet and has decided she likes to be held instead. With her tubes and cords, this can be difficult, especially with Leila running around too,
Leila
Height: 39.75" (90th percentile)
Weight: 37 lbs 7 oz (90th percentile)
BMI: 16.67 (78th percentile)
Where her sister is petite, Leila is certainly not! She is a solid, healthy girl!
*She hasn't been sleeping great since we brought Ellie home from the hospital. Some nights it takes us 2 hours to get her down and there's no guarantee she'll stay asleep through the night.
*She loves being a big sister and helping Mom out.
*She loves to sing songs, especially in the car. She's even started making up some of her own.
*She is dramatic and knows how/when to play on your emotions.
*She is as active as ever and doesn't much care to sit still in one place for long.
*In conjunction with the above, her first attempt at going to Sunbeams last week was a failure. She just wanted to go play with the toys in nursery!
*She is very observant, even when you don't think she's paying attention, and she has an excellent memory.
Love my girls!

Second Christmas
Since we weren't up for travelling to California for the holidays this year, the Ziebarths came to us this weekend and we celebrated Christmas again, complete with a surprise visit from Santa (aka Darlene)!
It didn't take long before Leila was ready to go play out in the snow with Darlene and Jessica even though it was absolutely FREEZING! Good thing her aunties were taking her and not Mommy!

Depictions of December
December 3
Leila was watching me curl my hair while I was getting ready for Jason's team Christmas party and she kept saying, "Momma, you so pretty. Like a ballerina!" Not sure why ballerinas are her standard for beauty, but I'll take it! When I finished I decided to do her hair too and she actually cooperated. It was a mini-miracle!
December 13
With Ellie still being on monitors and oxygen, we don't get out of the house much these days. Plus Ellie requires a lot of attention and I'm working part time from home, so I'm always trying to come up with something to entertain Leila. Today it was coloring on random boxes and taking selfies.
December 21
We got to go see a pretty incredible miniature Christmas village tonight. The father of a lady in my home ward has put together an entire village of miniatures that takes up an entire room. He plays a recording of a poem that highlights different aspects of the village and opens up his home for friends and neighbors to come and get in the Christmas spirit. Leila LOVED it! It was truly magical watching her face light up as she soaked it all in. I couldn't even get her to turn around long enough to snap a picture.
December 22
For the times mommy can't come up with new ideas to entertain her, Leila's pretty good at entertaining herself. Here she is hiding in her pirate's treasure chest.
Then when Daddy came home that night, he decided to amp up the pirate fun:
December 28
One of Jason's Christmas presents was the new Super Smash Bros. that let's up to 8 people play at once. So of course we brought our Wii U over to Mom's so that we could all play.
And it didn't take long before Leila decided she wanted in on the fun too!
