Valentine's 2012

This year we had 3 days of celebrating Valentine's Day.  Monday night we went over to my parents' for their traditional family candlelit dinner.  I always enjoyed this tradition growing up--one of the only things I did like about Valentine's Day.  I liked that my parents made the holiday a family one instead of one just for them.

At work on Tuesday, on of my shifts decided to decorate Valentine's bags and hand out Valentine's to everyone, just like in the days of elementary school.  Jason and I decided to celebrate the day after Valentine's in an attempt to avoid some crowds. But Jason still gave me flowers and chocolate covered strawberries on the actual day.  Beautiful!

Wednesday evening I got Leila all dressed up in her Valentine's Day outfit which included a skirt and bow I made for her.  We dropped the little cutie my parents' where she messed her outfit within minutes.  Go figure!  At least my parents got to see the whole outfit briefly.

With that, we headed for dinner at Tucanos.  Apparently a lot of people had the same idea we did because we still had to wait 45 minutes for a table!  While we waited, we wandered around a couple of the shops in the Riverwoods including a toy store where we picked out these little beauties:

Okay, so I picked them out and Jason was kind enough to indulge me as I wanted to take various pictures.

Hubba Hubba!

We finally got to eat our dinner and it was delicious--albeit a whole lot of meat.  Well worth the wait though.  After we waddled our way away from the restaurant, we made our way to University Mall where Jason got my wedding ring cleaned and we just enjoyed time together.  At the end of the night, I gave Jason his gift: a card explaining that I would be leaving him a love note each day for the next year.

When we finally made it home, we had one tired baby (mommy wasn't far behind her!)

This was our third Valentine's Day together and each one has been wonderful!

4 Months!!!

My little Leila is already 4 months old!  We had her doctor's appointment this week and here are her stats:

Head: 16 inches (54.45 percentile)
Weight: 11.73 pounds (7.35 percentile)
Length: 23.75 inches (23.15 percentile)

She is still a small little girl and I'm okay with that. She still fits into most of her newborn clothes and has the daintiest little features.

At 4 months you are laughing, making high pitched squeals, chuckling, making sounds when looking at toys and people, and blowing raspberries.  You were close to rolling over about a month ago, but seem to have decided it is beneath you and won't try most days now.  But you do have excellent control of your head.  You have recently been exploring more with your hands and feet.  You like to grab onto whatever is near you (clothes, blankets, hair, etc).  You like to grab onto blankets and pull them up to your face.  Anything within reach also goes straight into your mouth.     You sit up well with assistance and have taken to standing up (with help) whenever you can.

You can sleep through the night, but you get into patterns of waking mid-night still.  During these times you aren't hungry, just playful.  And when mommy has to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, 2am playtimes just don't cut it!  You have been doing better since we took you to the doctor though.  Those immunizations just knock you out!

I am amazed at how fast time is flying by and am trying to soak up every moment I can with you!

Wedding in Idaho Falls

This weekend we took a quick road trip to Idaho Falls for a friend's wedding.  Dan was in my ward/FHE group my freshman semester at BYU Provo.  My roommate Cadence and I "adopted" him as our bigger little brother.   Sadly, I've been horrible at keeping in touch with him, but he was kind enough to invite me to his reception/sealing/luncheon, so I wanted to make the effort to go.  Plus it gave us a great excuse for a mini roadtrip to help cure me of some cabin fever I've been getting lately.  We drove up Friday afternoon, went to Dan's reception, met up with my sister Jori (who is going to BYU-Idaho) for dinner, went to the sealing and reception Saturday morning, and then drove back home.  Quick trip, but well worth it.  I think Dan was pleasantly surprised to see me and it was great to catch up with him a little bit!  It was a wonderful day and I'm very happy for him!

Baby Sister Growing Up

My baby sister, Annie, received her Young Womanhood Recognition award this last week.  I couldn't help but marvel at how fast she is growing up as we watched the slideshow my dad put together for her.  It seems like I was just at her stage and suddenly I'm graduated from college, married, and have a daughter.  I sure am proud of the young woman she has become though!

Love you Buppy!
