Happy Halloween!

Anyone who knows me knows that usually I am a very frugal person. I don't spend a lot of money on myself or any "unnecessary" items. There are a couple of major exceptions: 1) books, 2) office/teacher supplies, and 3) holidays. With that last exception, you can prolly guess that I rather enjoy Halloween.

This year, I got a huge free pumpkin from the preschool and made Jason buy me another one to "practice" on when really I just wanted to carve two pumpkins. When he decided not to carve one of the ones he bought for himself I ended up doing three and created my own pattern for two of them (how adventurous of me). I was fairly pleased with how they all turned out.

My other big holiday project was figuring out costumes for Jason and myself. Since we are still living off of one part time job and unemployment, buying pre-made costumes wasn't an option, so we hit the fabric store instead. After several hours of hmming, hawing, cutting, and ironing, I managed to pull off a decent set of Fred and Wilma Flintstone outfits. Not too bad for no pattern or sewing machine, if I do say so myself.

Jason's sister, Jessica, also got into the Halloween spirit and dressed up as a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup package as it appears to someone who is allergic to peanuts: with a whole lot of Benadryl included! We showed off our costumes at a Tri-Ward Halloween party and then went to dinner afterwards. We certainly stuck out at the restaurant, but it was all good fun!

Fall Break Fun with the Larsen Clan

My family had a few days off from school so we decided to gather the entire family together for a few days of fun and relaxation.  Jason and I took off Wednesday afternoon and booked it as fast as we could to St. George where we met up with my parents, Jori, Jared and Annie.

The main event was continuing a Larsen tradition of seeing a play at the outdoor theater (Tuacahn) there.  This year we chose to go see Tarzan.  I have always been impressed with the shows we've seen there and this was no exception.  With zip lines and acrobatic "gorillas" this show was half musical, half circus.  Definitely worth the effort!

The next morning we got up and going and loaded back into the cars in order to make our way down to Mesa, AZ where Ashley and Taylor are currently living.  Once we had the whole family together, we checked into the rental home and just enjoyed each other's company.  We had some barbecues, carved pumpkins (a Larsen Halloween must), and had some extended family over for a pool party.  So fun!

We said goodbye to my family early Sunday morning and eventually made our way to my friend Laurel's where she made us some of her delicious omelettes.  Mmm!  Sadly the vacation had to come to an end, but we sure enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to getting together with everyone again for Thanksgiving!

Disneyland, General Conference, my first airshow, and a concert for my favorite band. That was my weekend! Pretty spectacular for a couple of days, huh?
